PSD Analysis in the Sand Control Laboratory

Sand Control Lab has developed a methodology for conducting PSD analysis on sieves in order to determine the particle size distribution of rock samples.

PSD-analysis provides data on the size distribution of rock particles, allowing for further qualitative assessment of the composition and analysis of individual fractions, as well as determining parameters such as the homogeneity and sorting coefficients of the solid phase distribution. These figures are taken into account when selecting sand filters for future operation of main sources in order to control the content of specific particles. When clogging and erosion tests are detected in the laboratory using PSD analysis, reservoir fluid models are collected with the optimal qualitative and quantitative composition of the solid phase. By directing artificial sands, clays, and carbonate materials in accordance with the required composition, particle size, sphericity, and degree of roundness, the necessary test conditions are achieved.
